NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund 2024
NFU Mutual Canterbury and Sittingbourne agency is proud to support Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service and Pilgrims Hospices
We recently nominated local charities Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service and Pilgrims Hospices to receive a donation of £6,509 each from NFU Mutual’s national £1.92 million ‘Agency Giving Fund’. The Fund forms part of NFU Mutual’s pledge to support charities during 2024.
Our agency put forward Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service and Pilgrims Hospices to each receive a donation of £6,509 from the Fund, to help deliver their important work.
This donation will enable Rising Sun to provide 100 hours of free 1:1 counselling support to children aged 5-18 who have experienced domestic abuse, offering a safe space for silenced and hurt children to be heard and begin to heal. It will also support other essential, trauma-informed services to support survivors of all ages. Each year, Rising Sun supports over 1,200 women and children in Canterbury, Ashford and Folkestone & Hythe to overcome the trauma of domestic abuse and rebuild their lives.
The donation to Pilgrims Hospices will support their Bed Appeal campaign and enable them to replace 36 of the hospice beds to ensure they provide the best quality care. The new beds will support patients to remain comfortable, have as much independence as possible and will have a significant impact on patients who are spending time on inpatient units. Each year Pilgrims Hospices support over 900 patients across three inpatient units in Canterbury, Thanet and Ashford for symptom control before patients return home, and for end-of-life care in the last few days of a person’s life.
